Quote of the Day #10

Yusuf al-Qaradawi

“If they had gotten rid of the apostasy punishment Islam wouldn’t exist today.”

This quote kind of gives the Islamist game away. Sheikh al-Qaradawi further said that..

“The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His apostle is that they should be murdered or crucified… many hadiths, not only one or two, but many, narrated by a number of Muhammad’s companions state that any apostate should be killed. Ibn ‘Abbas’s hadith: ‘Kill whoever changes his faith [from Islam].”

Unlike some of the nutjobs who foam about Islam on borderline racist websites, I am not picking out some insignificant figure with a couple of followers and a big mouth, the sort of person the racists at the BBC and The Guardian like to wheel out as a representative of the non-existent “Muslim community.” Sheikh al-Qaradawi attended Al-Azhar University in Cairo (the Harvard of Sunni Islam) and is the founder and chief scholar of the website IslamOnline. He also presents a show on Al-Jazeera. Al-Qaradawi is not some marginal loony like Anjem Choudhary but a respected voice of mainstream Sunni Islam.
