Hatred In The UK

With apologies to the Sex Pistols

“The history of all hitherto existing society is the history of class struggles. Throughout history we see the oppressor and oppressed in constant opposition to each other. This fight is sometimes hidden and sometimes open. However, each time the fight ends in either a revolutionary reconstruction of society or in the classes’ common ruin.” Karl Marx wrote these words in 1848 but they apply equally to 2017. The British Establishment only care about money and they hate people who don’t have money.  They don’t hate you because of your race. They don’t hate you because of your religion. They don’t hate you because of your sex. They don’t hate you because of your sexuality. They hate you because you don’t have any money.

A lot of the usual suspects have been trying to make the Grenfell Tower fire about race. Some god botherers have even tried to make it about their favourite thoughtcrime (hint, it begins with the letter “I” and isn’t a real word). But, as with most things in the UK, it is to do with money. The local council in Kensington and Chelsea have not been maintaining this tower properly to save money. They don’t care about the tenants because they are poor and live in social housing . There is an allegation that the company who fitted the cladding to the tower used the material they did to save £5,000. At the time of writing, the death toll stands at 79. This means the British Establishment values the life of poor people at 63 quid. The British Establishment hates you because you don’t have any money; it doesn’t hate you because of your race, religion, sex or sexuality.

There are further reports that residents of a luxury block of flats are complaining that some of the survivors of the fire – people who have lost everything remember – are being rehoused in their complex. Class hatred at its finest. Some of these folks are no doubt the same people who go on about how wonderful and “diverse” London is. But the Establishment’s idea about “diversity” means Polish plumbers and Lithuanian nannies who can be paid a pittance. They certainly don’t want those horrid poor people living near them, especially if they are not white. It is the Establishment who are the real racists – look at the BBC (mouthpiece of the Establishment), Parliament, Oxbridge, public schools and the boards of most FTSE-100 companies – they are all “hideously white.” The Establishment do not hate you because of your race, religion, sex or sexuality; they hate you because you don’t have any money.

The Establishment only care about money. And when I talk about the Establishment, I mean the Labour Party too. Tony Blair – public school, Oxbridge, barrister. Ed Miliband – Oxbridge then straight to parliament as a “special advisor.”  Even that so-called ‘man of the people’ Compo Corbyn went to public school and owns a house in Islington – average price £749,835. The disdain for the views of ordinary working class people is pure class hatred. The Establishment do not hate you because of your race, religion, sex or sexuality; they hate you because you don’t have any money.

The Establishment love identity politics. They love to divide working people into mutually antagonistic tribes based on differences in race, religion and sex. The current trend for ever smaller and more bizarre sexual minorities just gives the Establishment more tribes to turn against one another. When I was at university in the 1980s, there was a gay and lesbian society; a quick internet search reveals “LGBTQIA” (don’t ask me). Divide et impera is alive and well today – it worked in the Roman Empire and it worked for the British Raj in India. Why should the Establishment abandon one of its favourite tools just because imperialism is currently out of fashion? They know that (for instance) the average Christian and Muslim have more in common with each other than with their leaders but they want them to hate each other so that the Establishment can pick their pockets separately. The Establishment do not hate you because of your race, religion, sex or sexuality; they hate you because you don’t have any money.

And it was ever thus. My late grandfather (died 1971) was a highly-skilled engineer with a five-year apprenticeship behind him. My mother tells me he used to get angry about office people treating him with contempt because he wore a boiler suit to work and he got his hands dirty. The Establishment do not hate you because of your race, religion, sex or sexuality; they hate you because you don’t have any money.

Proof that the Establishment don’t really care about race, religion, sex or sexuality comes in their attitude to Saudi Arabia. Racism, religious hatred, misogyny and homophobia are the worst possible sins according to the Establishment. Saudi Arabia is the most racist, most religiously intolerant, most misogynistic and most homophobic country in the world. But the Establishment are quite happy to suck up to the Saudis and sell then lots of weapons (even the allegedly “Islamophobic” Donald Trump went to Riyadh to sell them guns). Why? Because they have lots of money! The Establishment do not hate you because of your race, religion, sex or sexuality; they hate you because you don’t have any money.

I am not naïve. I know that some people will always be richer than others. A doctor will always earn more than a road sweeper. But the doctor would soon complain if the roads were not swept and there were rats spreading disease. The obscene wealth differentials highlighted by the Grenfell Tower fire are indefensible in a modern, supposedly democratic society. Wayne Rooney getting £300,000 a week to sit on the bench at Old Trafford whilst other people have to go to food banks? Workshy “celebrities” like Pippa Middleton spending £40,000 on a dress whilst other people have to chose between heating and eating? The Establishment’s love of money is demonstrated when they give out the baubles of the “honours” system to talentless, no-mark chavs like Victoria Beckham (the most hated person in modern Britain, and that includes Tony Blair) because they have somehow managed to acquire vast fortunes with zero effort. The Establishment do not hate you because of your race, religion, sex or sexuality; they hate you because you don’t have any money.

Jeremy Corbyn’s surprisingly good performance in the general election shows that there is a genuine constituency for real change. If Labour could ditch the identity politics and the bizarre alliance with Islamists it would romp to victory. The fact that Labour MPs were elected in heavily Leave voting constituencies shows that the neoliberal European Union is not popular with ordinary working people. Red Brexit anyone? The ultimate goal of most of the Establishment is a sinecure in Brussels – vast salaries, huge expense accounts and four hour lunches. The Establishment do not hate you because of your race, religion, sex or sexuality; they hate you because you don’t have any money.

The current problems in Britain, as highlighted by the Grenfell Tower fire, have nothing to do with race, religion, sex or sexuality. They are all about money. Remember, the Establishment do not hate you because of your race, religion, sex or sexuality; they hate you because you don’t have any money.
