The Guardian Theme Song Update

Do we need a list of what isn’t racist?

In March 2018, I wrote a song to the theme of The Lego Movie called Everything is racist!

My song contained the line…

“White milk, nursery rhymes, we just named some racist things”

This was meant to be a joke. In 2021, a member of the weekend hippies of Stinky Conformism, Alison Plaumer, told Brighton Council that serving too many dairy products is racist because a lot of non-Europeans are lactose-intolerant. As lunacy goes, this is right up there with estate agents not calling the biggest bedroom the ‘master suite’ because, you know, ‘racism.’

Wibble.

In March 2021, Pimlico Academy in London was at the centre of accusations of ‘racism’ after a new uniform code was introduced. Not only that but the school dared(!) to fly the national flag which caused protests and graffiti claiming…

“There ain’t no black on the Union Jack.”

In a previous post, Picture of the Day #50, I called Black Lives Matter “the National Front of our times.” In my benighted 1970s youth, the National Front were opposed to any non-white immigration and one of their slogans was…

“There ain’t no black on the Union Jack so send the bastards back.”

Modern ‘anti-racists’ are nothing of the kind but are in fact bringing back old and discredited ideas (neo-racism?) and a new type of racial separatism (neo-segregation? Perhaps neo-apartheid?). The ‘anti-racism’ of these folks is exactly one word too long. I’d like to compare what I think is real opposition to racism with the neo-racism of the ‘anti-racists’…

* ‘Anti-racists’ see race everywhere, except for where it doesn’t fit with their political agenda. Doesn’t real opposition to racism at least attempt to be colourblind without denying the instances of real racism when it occurs?

* ‘Anti-racists’ see everyone as a member of their racial category. Wouldn’t it be better to treat everyone as an individual?

* ‘Anti-racists’ often excuse anti-white racism and, particularly, anti-Semitism. Surely all racism is wrong?

* ‘Anti-racists’ know that racism comes from putting social significance into racial categories, but continue to do so because they appear to believe discrimination and prejudice can be used to fight discrimination and prejudice? I can acknowledge that racism comes from putting social significance into racial categories, but I do not believe you can use discrimination and prejudice to fight discrimination and prejudice.

* Many ‘anti-racists’ appear to endorse racial stereotyping. Just last week, there was a pathetic row when some BBC ‘diversity’ shill said Idris Elba’s character in the police drama Luther wasn’t ‘authentic’ because he didn’t eat Caribbean food. Elba’s father was from Sierra Leone and his mother was born in Ghana. Isn’t it better to reject racial stereotyping?

Again, wibble.

But if the ‘anti-racists’ are mad, they don’t hold a candle to the TRAs (Trans Rights Activists) of Twitter (where else?). Here’s an incomplete list of things that are transphobic (I copied this list from a mad Scottish website called Wings Over Scotland that makes the Scottish Nazi Party look sane so apologies for any dodgy links)…

  1. Womxn is ghastly and unpronounceable. How about Wyman instead (for pre-chop XYs)? The advantages are (a) it slips off the tongue (Ooh, missus!) and (b) the descender of the ‘y’ shows the intact part!
