Quote Of The Day #57 Update

Thomas Sowell

“The word ‘racism’ is like ketchup. It can be put on anything – and demanding evidence makes you a ‘racist’!”

I was right! At the risk of sounding self-congratulatory, I wrote in my original post that…

“I further believe that a large number of the people who bang on about ‘racism’ have a vested interest in ‘racism’ being a huge problem – either because they have jobs in the media or the public sector dealing with ‘racism’ or because they are ultra-privileged members of the Establishment desperate to claim the Holy Grail of victimhood for themselves.”

Step forward repugnant racist, Afua Hirsch who wrote in the Guardian (where else?)…

“The problem I have with ‘identity politics’ is that it’s a phrase mostly used by people who don’t name their identities, against those who do. We all have identities, after all, and in racialised societies like this one it’s ethnic minorities who are guilty of playing ‘identity politics’ for having the audacity to own, articulate or organise around that experience. Meanwhile the majority, who have the luxury of regarding their identities as normal, neutral and invisible, have always mobilised politically around class, region, and whiteness. But that’s not identity politics, that’s just politics, right?”

To answer the racist Afua Hirsch’s rhetorical question, the answer is ‘yes; yes it is.’ Oh, and the UK is not a “racialised society” – it is, in fact, one of the least racist countries in the world…

The racist Afua Hirsch is exactly the kind of ultra-privileged member of the Establishment I had in mind when I penned the original post. She is the daughter of a diplomat, was educated at Wimbledon High School (current fees £18,810 a year!), studied at Oxford University and is a qualified barrister from the Inns of Court. The racist Afua Hirsch has an almost stereotypical background of the British Establishment as well as having two media platforms – the Guardian and Sky television – to spout her bigoted filth. Not exactly oppressed are you, racist Afua Hirsch?
